I've been hiding something from you… I have used my 'new start' credit and started a new project...
Alex loves cuddling up on the couch with my lap quilt, so I was inspired to make him his own. I've gone for a 'disappearing 9-patch' in nice bright colours and featuring a cute car pattern. There's a good tutorial over at Cluck Cluck Sew if you're interested in a tutorial for this pattern. I've completed the quilt top and so just need to get time to tack then machine quilt this one and I'm done. Alex's birthday is at the end of this month so with any luck it will be a special gift for him :)
Talking about my cheeky little monkey…
Can't believe he's nearly three! My babies seem to be growing up so quickly - Sofia is almost 7 months and starting to be able to sit by herself
Back to sewing… I've also offered to make a cushion cover for a friend's little boy. He's just started kinder and needs to take a little cushion to school for nap time. He's asked for something "black and orange with a little bit of green"so I thought the disappearing 9-patch idea would work perfectly for this project also. Here is what I have so far:
I quite like the effect! I just need to add a black strip down one side, add his name and then attach to some backing fabric.
March is shaping up to be a pretty busy month… interstate and overseas visitors, Sofia's baptism and Alex's birthday to organise for, as well as getting the above two projects completed. I'm also really hoping to get a softie made for Alex's birthday but that might be wishful thinking at this stage. Now just to figure out what special gift I can make/buy for Sofia for her baptism - any suggestions?
Until next time xx
